The Living Center
  • The Living Center is located in the High School end of the building across from Room 7.
  • The Living Center contains a full kitchen with refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster, bread-maker, dishwasher and oven.
  • This room is available for use for all classrooms, however, only Functional Curriculum and CBVI classes get regularly scheduled times.
  • Other Teachers who would like to use the Living Center can sign up for a time on the schedule that is located on the wall there. Just sign up for any open space and then it is yours for that time. Be sure to take your name off the schedule if for some reason you will not be using it. That goes for regularly scheduled classes also- if you know that you will not be using your time in there, as a courtesy to others, please mark through your name on the schedule for that time.
  •  Be sure to leave the room cleaner than you found it.
  • There are some supplies and utensils available, but you should not count on finding what you need in the cabinets there and should bring your own supplies - including sponges and dish soap for cleaning. Teachers who utilize the Living Center regularly often keep a large Rubbermaid type bin filled with the materials that they need.
  • Students love cooking activities and it is a great way to take a little in-house "field-trip."
  • Like everything else, make sure that you explicitly teach your students (before your visit) exactly what you expect of them while they are in the Living Center.
  • The refrigerator in the Living Center is to be used for student Living Center activities supplies only. It is not to be used for personal use.
  • There is a washer and dryer available for emergencies. This laundry facility is used to do the Boutique laundry.
  • The offices of the High School Program Manager and the Nurse are located in the Living Center.
  • This year there will be a working Computer Lab in the Living Center. This is a new thing for all of us and we will need to work cooperatively to get the most out of both of these great resources. There is a chance that your cooking class might have to share the Living Center with a Computer Class. This will be a great time to model the PBIS expectation of cooperation for your students to learn from!
